Implementation Science Center

The Implementation Science Center (ISC) is the first of its kind in WV. This center focuses on training researchers and community partners in readiness, implementation, and sustainability of evidence-based interventions (EBIs) at the local level to increase effectiveness and impact.

There is a critical gap between science discoveries and community implementation. The ISC aims to increase community focused research that benefits residents living in West Virginia, including those living in rural areas. The Center brings evidence-based, or previously studied, programs into rural communities and identifies ways to make the project best fit the community that is involved.

What is implementation Science?

Implementation science is the study of methods to promote the systematic uptake of evidence-based practices, programs, and policies into routine use within real-world settings. It bridges the gap between research and practice, identifying and addressing the challenges and facilitators that influence the effective adoption, implementation, and sustainability of proven interventions. By understanding "how" to best put "what works" into action, implementation science aims to accelerate the positive impact of research findings on individual and population health outcomes.
