Implementation Science Center

The Implementation Science Center (ISC) is the first of its kind in WV. This center focuses on training researchers and community partners in readiness, implementation, and sustainability of evidence-based interventions (EBIs) at the local level to increase effectiveness and impact.

There is a critical gap between science discoveries and community implementation. The ISC aims to increase community focused research that benefits residents living in West Virginia, including those living in rural areas. The Center brings evidence-based, or previously studied, programs into rural communities and identifies ways to make the project best fit the community that is involved.

What is implementation Science?

Implementation science is a systematic study of methods and approaches to effectively translate research into real-world practice. It helps assess a community to understand what resources exist to help facilitate the implementation of a program and to identify barriers that may impede implementation. It also provides solutions to address such barriers and increases the likelihood of success in multiple communities.
