Keynote Speaker Biography
Sten Vermund, MD, PhD, is Dean and Anna M.R. Lauder Professor of Public Health at Yale School of Public Health; Professor of Pediatrics, Yale School of Medicine. His work on HIV-HPV interactions among women in methadone programs culminated in a change in the 1993 CDC AIDS case surveillance definition and cervical cancer screening programs launched within HIV/AIDS programs around the world. His research has focused on health care access, adolescent medicine, prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission, and reproductive health. Prior to Yale, Dr. Vermund served as the Amos Christie Chair in Global Health, Professor of Pediatrics, Director of the Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health, and Vice President for Global Health at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
