R01 Grant Writing Group

A facilitated grant writing group (GWG) program is being held to assist WVCTSI faculty members with development and submission of a NIH R01 research grant application in clinical and/or translational sciences for the June 5, 2024 deadline. The GWG will meet to provide guidance and editorial assistance on the required sections of this grant application, including development of required clinical trial protocols as applicable. As an important feature of the R01 GWG program participants will provide peer-to-peer feedback to their group members and, in turn, receive constructive feedback to support the development of their own application for submission.

An application is required for participation in the WVCTSI R01 grant writing group program. Applications should include the following:

  1. a draft Specific Aims page
  2. a current NIH Biosketch
  3. a letter of commitment stating that the participant will attend the twice monthly sessions, provide feedback to fellow participants and agree to submit a draft of the application for review to the WVU HSC Internal Study Section (LOI due April 1, 2024 and internal review April 14, 2024). All sessions will be held online by Zoom on Tuesdays at 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm beginning February 13, 2024. A full schedule can be found here

Applications are now being accepted for the R01 GWG through February 2, 2024.

Please forward application materials to Dr. Joan M. Lakoski, Proposal Development Director by email (joan.lakoski@hsc.wvu.edu). Applicants will be notified of acceptance and provided the program meeting schedule following review of application materials.
