WVCTSI Announces 3 summer funding opportunities

The West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute has released request for applications (RFA) for the Open Competition, Launch Pilot Grant, and Jumpstart Grant funding opportunities.

The Open Competition RFA allows applicants to request up to $50,000 for projects conducting innovative research that addresses the healthcare needs in West Virginia and Appalachia. Examples include, but are not limited to, addiction, Alzheimer’s disease, emerging epidemics (e.g., SARS-CoV-2, HIV, hepatitis C), cancer, cardiovascular disease (including stroke), and chronic lung disease.

The Launch Pilot Grant opportunity offers up to $50,000 in funding which must be utilized over a period of nine months. This funding opportunity is designed to accelerate the translation of intellectual property developed by WVCTSI researchers into realized inventions and patents.

The WVCTSI Jumpstart Grant funding opportunity allows investigators to receive up to $10,000 in funding that must be utilized over a six-month period. This funding opportunity is designed to support small well-defined projects that will lead to measured outcomes such as preliminary data for a larger grant submission.

To assist investigators interested in applying for pilot grant funding, WVCTSI will host a special information session from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 9. This session will provide more information on individual RFAs and the WVCTSI application process. Anyone interested in this virtual event can register here.
