NIH policy changes will require Data Management and Sharing Plans for research

Starting Jan. 25, 2023, the National Institutes of Health will require submission of a Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Plan for all research that is funded or conducted by NIH and that results in generation of scientific data. This NIH policy change also includes increased content, changes to budget management, and requirements for open access and tracking. Review this chart to determine if your NIH submission requires a DMS Plan.

The WVU Research Office in partnership with the Libraries, WVCTSI, the WVU HSC Office of Research and Graduate Education, Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, and Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources have a plan to assist PIs submitting to the NIH in 2023.

Visit this resource page to learn more about the support plan and the NIH policy change. If you plan to submit to the NIH in the first quarter of 2023, please complete this Consultation Form as soon as possible.
