Clinical and Translational Faculty Recruitment and Resources
The Clinical and Translational Faculty Recruitment and Resources core is designed to strengthen the capacity and research infrastructure among the WVCTSI. By the end of a 5-year IDeA-CTR award, WVCTSI will be highly efficient and productive partners in the pursuit of a CTSA. This in turn will result in the primary goal of the WVCTSI which is to increase research related to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer, cardiovascular, stroke and obesity related diseases that are the leading causes of mortality among West Virginians/Appalachians.
We will achieve this goal with recruitment of magnet clinical and translational faculty and junior investigators in all the five Schools at WVU and in its partners institutions CAMC/WVU-C and WVSOM. This will be furthered by having all faculty recruited within this core utilize existing and expanded clinical and translational resources and cores that is greatly enabled by an IDeA-CTR award to support clinical and translational researchers; and engagement of current researchers and new recruits’ research through communication and outreach to increase new interactions and collaborative statewide and national research programs.
The CTFRR furthers WVCTSI goals by helping to recruit, train, and retain the next generation of clinical and translational scientists, providing them and current WVCTSI researchers with supportive services and clinical and translational resources, and by enhancing research partnerships and collaborations within and across WVCTSI partner institutions. It is the focal point for collaborative interactions and beneficiary of various services performed by several WVCTSI cores.
