Clinical Research Design, Epidemiology, & Biostatistics
The Clinical Research Design, Epidemiology, and Biostatistics program of the WVCTSI will provide a transdisciplinary team of biostatisticians and epidemiologists who will work collaboratively with clinical and translational researchers statewide, including the WVU regional campuses and our partnering institutions. Through leveraging of strong but limited existing resources along with targeted recruitment of additional resources, the program can assist in transforming the research infrastructure available to our new generation of investigators. In turn, the program will aid in the development of projects that address the health disparities that exist in West Virginia and bring optimal benefit to our Appalachian patient populations.
Specifically, the goal of the program will be to enhance the study design and analytical infrastructure at WVU and partner institutions, particularly in the areas of clinical studies and trials, intervention studies, observational studies such as case-control studies, and genomics and proteomics studies. This will transform the manner in which investigators access biostatistics and epidemiology resources at WVU and among its partners. It will provide an expanded availability of novel biostatistical tools and study design expertise to clinical and translational researchers. It will offer researchers throughout West Virginia a central means to receive support from a comprehensive group of scientists with general and specialized statistical and epidemiological expertise.
