WVU Addiction Task Force announces opioid addiction funding opportunity

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Addiction Task Force, in collaboration with the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute (WVCTSI), has released a request for applications (RFA) for the Addressing the Opioid Addiction Crisis in West Virginia funding opportunity. The goal of this RFA is to support innovative strategies to reduce and treat opioid addiction and reduce morbidity and mortality from opioid addiction.

This competition is open to individuals who hold a faculty appointment or equivalent at West Virginia University at the time the pilot award commences. Applicants can request up to $25,000 in funding, with the option for a one-time renewal of the project in June 2017. This program is designed to address current challenges and practices impacting people addicted to opioids, recovering patients, and potential substance abusers. 

Submitted proposals should focus on an opioid related problem/issue of significance to West Virginia. Proposals should focus on innovative strategies that are scalable, sustainable, and practical to implement that can be easily adopted by health care entities throughout West Virginia and beyond.

Funding for this RFA is provided by the West Virginia University Health Sciences Center as well as the WV IDeA-CTR NIH/NIGMS Award Number U54GM104942.

Applications are due by July 29, 2016 by 5:30 p.m. EST.

Applications must be submitted via email as a single PDF document to Wes Kimble (wkimble1@hsc.wvu.edu) on or before the deadline date.
