REMINDER from WVCTSI Pilot Grant Core

As you prepare for upcoming Pilot RFA Open Competition deadlines, please do not hesitate to contact the Pilot Grants staff for direction and support in navigating the application process.  Our team is happy to assist you:

Meghan Reeves, MPH, Pilot Grants Coordinator: mreeves1@hsc.wvu.edu

Anne Bolyard, EdD, Pilot Grants Chair: aebolyard@hsc.wvu.edu

In preparation for the next deadline, please keep the following in mind:

Letters of Intent:

To better serve those applying for Pilot funding, the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute (WVCTSI) now requires Letters of Intent (LOI) from all interested researchers for the open competition.

Only the top-scoring LOIs that address one or more of the following funding priority areas will be invited to submit a full proposal:

·       Cancer

·       Cardiovascular Disease

·       Emerging Epidemics in Appalachia (Drug Abuse)

·       Neuroscience

·       Obesity and Metabolic Diseases

The required LOI process will help to ensure that potential projects are in line with WVCTSI goals and target areas. In addition, the WVCTSI Pilot Core will be able to more effectively find the most suitable reviewers for the accepted applications.

Letters of Intent must be submitted by 5:00 PM EST, August 1, 2015 to Anne Bolyard (aebolyard@hsc.wvu.edu) as a single PDF document. All LOIs submitted by July 20 will be reviewed and feedback will be provided to allow investigators time to make revisions before the August 1 deadline.

Compliance Requirements:

Researchers submitting a full proposal in response to this Pilot Grant RFA must include CITI certification for investigators conducting research with human subjects as well as documentation of IRB protocol submission and/or IACUC protocol submission. Documentation for these requirements should be included in the Appendix of the application. IRB and IACUC approval is not required prior to application submission deadline, but must be completed within 30 days of project awards.

NEXT Proposal Due Date:

For those applicants invited to submit full applications, you will receive an e-mail notifying you after your LOI has been reviewed and approved.  Unsolicited full proposals submitted will not be reviewed nor considered to receive pilot grant funds.

·       September 30, 2015 by 5:00 PM EST
